Violence against women, in particular, exists in India since time immemorial, rooted in societal norms and is taken for granted as normal. Violence exists in both visible and invisible forms. Globally, nearly 2 of every 3 girls and 3 of 4 boys experience violence in childhood and 1 out of every 4 Indian children are emotionally abused. Unfortunately most women and children especially among poor and illiterate lack courage or community-based support groups in-person to report violence for fear of further escalation, until it reaches a level of breaking-down or reaches the visible deformities, not realizing how much it can decrease a child’s growth, level of immunity, intelligentsia and productivity making them socially incapable to live a peaceful life… Early and Forced Marriage both are closely associated with gender bias, domestic violence school drop-outs along with other indicators etc. Several attempts have been made to quantify how much a country lose their human wealth because of violence that leaves permanent damage to the productivity of a person. It’s possible and a public priority to end violence with collective responsibility, by bringing together the governments, foundations, civil society, the academia, the private sectors and young people in driving actions toward achieving the new global target to end abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence and torture against children….as mandated by ‘United Nations’ Child Rights Commission 1989.

In order to accelerate the process of curbing violence, we must take children on board as ‘Rights Holders and Change Makers’ for whatever programs we might implement for their development. The ‘Naihati New Life Society’ – (NNLS): the implementing Agency has seven strategies to identify and curb violence in all its forms, builds on growing evidence that violence against children is preventable, and on a growing public consensus that it will no longer be tolerated. The ‘NNLS’ implements programs with effective community mobilization for the intervention through a carefully crafted Dynamic Social Engineering Process (DESP) of empowering citizens called ‘Citizens’ Parliament Authority Networks’ (CPAN) beginning with the children in all adopted schools, streeets and villages incorporating youth – members of local clubs and women’s associations especially housewives enabling them to rise-up and report to their collectives of citizens raised through ‘CPAN’ that helps to overcome the barriers of cultural norms which are largely responsible for social and economic exclusions and gender gaps.
